Welcome, welcome, welcome
We are so looking forward to putting our famous hospitality to the test. Scarlett is very excited (but, as usual, is unable to focus on anything more than a couple of days off). Don’t worry, I have taken charge, and everything is falling into place. I have arranged to house you in the Marriott Marquis, the largest hotel in the south, and fancy don’t half describe it! And it is right downtown, sitting on a MARTA station and within spitting distance of the World of Coca-Cola, the Margaret Mitchell House, and the world’s largest aquarium. I have rounded up twelve – yes, twelve! – amazing callers. There will be plenty of vittles, although Yankees hardly know how good grits, collard greens, and biscuits can be. The fun badge tour will take you around to see many parts of the city (but remember, Tara was lost to taxes and Twelve Oaks was sold off for timber). There is still a lot of stuff left to see. There will be all your favorite convention things – a grand march, good friends, old queens, and specialty tips – but we are going to do them with a southern accent, so y'all come!
