Crossfire Co-Chairs
Bob Sundal & Ed Siegel: Co-Chairs of Crossfire 2006

A word of thanks!

"Caught In The Crossfire 2006" was the Cat's Meow!

The Roaring 20's came alive at this year's Chi-Town Squares "Caught In The Crossfire 2006" fly-in.

Thanks to all who assisted in creating and sustaining the fantasy.

Upon arrival at UIC, the fantasy began. The cool decorations in the halls, rooms and bathrooms helped create the proper atmosphere. Our terrific callers, followed by our talented "Cabaret Speak EZ" singers, and all those who wore their wonderful costumes, helped make for a fun time of dancing, eating, and meeting up with friends old and new!

We reached 157 total participants, 119 full registrations and 38 coming for various numbers of single sessions. The following clubs were represented:

An event like this requires a lot of help and we are so grateful to all the Chi-Town members who contributed to this success. Special thanks to the invaluable
Crossfire 2006 Committee:
Ken Jancy, Edward Kappus, Matt Hutchinson, Ray Wohl, Nancy Vedder, Scott Hawkins, Michael Maltenfort, Rob Sierzega and Chuck Pease. Also thanks to Robert Jeffrey, Jerry Garcia and Grace Wallace, who helped Ray with creating the decorations (which were outstanding by the way!)

Though the committee does a lot of work in planning the fly-in, it would never happen without the help of members throughout the weekend - volunteering for various tasks from staffing the registration table to putting up decorations, selling raffle tickets, singing, cooking, etc., etc. Many, many thanks to the following for all they did over the course of the weekend: Michael Brown, Larry Tradup, Brian Treglown, Peter Kimmel, Saundra Bryant, John DeProsperis, Fester, Michael Pemberton, Phil Davis, Doug Kershner, Glenna O'Doul, Mike Blizzard, Peter Holden, Jim Lagestee, Kevin Randall, Stephen Pijanowski, Kathy Zottmann, Pat Kurauski, BeeJay Douglas, Arlene Kaspik, Kim Roberts, Sammy Ip, Bill Whitman, Steve Johnson, Joe Kerouac, Ricky Martell, Kate Reed, Rick Simkin, Tom Nickel, Larry Lesperance, Carl Smith, Julie Lenfest, Michael Deets, Rich Rathmell, Mike Weis, Roscoe's and CP Printing. Kudos to all the others who may not have been officially signed up as volunteers but helped with whatever needed to be done at various points.

A fly-in wouldn't be a fly-in without callers. We were so fortunate to have the wonderful energy and incredible skills of our good/evil twins Saundra Bryant and Anne Uebelacker as our primary callers. John Oldfield and Kris Jensen again made a dynamic duo throughout the weekend- what a team! We also appreciated both John and Kris calling at Roscoe's Sunday night for the 24+ people who wanted a little more square dancing mixed with two stepping, line dancing and country/western.

We were also fortunate to have fantastically talented out of town guest callers: Bruce Hayes, Allan Hurst, Alan Hirsch, Ken Sale and Aaron Wells. In addition, special thanks to our very own Arlene Kaspik, Michael Maltenfort and Larry Tradup who just keep getting better and better! It was so wonderful to have so many callers and so many opportunities for dancing.

Thank you all again for making Crossfire 2006 the success it was.

Crossfire 2007 is already beautifully taking shape. Our co-chairs will be Bob Sundal and Ken Jancy. Mark your calendars now for August 31 - September 3, 2007. Saundra Bryant and Vic Ceder will be our featured callers. Our theme centers on the renaissance, "A Gayla At The King Crossfire Court". See you all there!!
