are welcome to dance with us. |
 | We
have no dress code. | | One
can choose to dance either lead or follow position. |
 | Couples
and singles will find people to dance with, there is no need to bring a partner
along in order to dance. |
 | We
use Callerlab definitions and add fun styling to the calls. |
 | Our
dance location is smoke & alcohol free. |
We have danced
in the annual Gay and Lesbian Pride parade held every year on the last
Sunday of June. We have a booth with live dancing both days (recruiting, you know!)
at Halsted Market Days in August, the biggest neighborhood festival
in Chicago. The club also holds fundraising events to raise money for
the club and various community concerns. We currently have over 120
members. Classes will begin in the Fall with Mainstream/Plus on Tuesday
nights and "Club Night" Plus dances on Thursday
nights. We will continue a weekly A2/C1dance/workshop on Monday nights
as well as all-level dances on weekends. These dances will be
posted on our website under "What's New"
as the dates become available.
We have hosted the 'Great Chicago Crossfire' Fly-ins since 1989 with over 110
dancers in attendance the last few years. 'The Great Chicago Crossfire
XX' - Scoot Back Down to Chi-Town,
will be held over Labor Day Weekend, 2009 featuring Saundra Bryant and Anne
Uebelacker, with John Oldfield, Kris Jensen, Michael Maltenfort, Arlene Kaspik,
and additional guest G.C.A. callers.
Chi-Town offers an alternative social activity for those in Chicago's
lesbian and gay community. The social interaction is a great way to
meet people. Our dances are alcohol free. This is a nice change from
the typical bar scene that many people in our community find themselves
in, for purposes of meeting others. For all these reasons, Chi-Town Squares
is the place to be! |
