Gay square dancing is a fast-paced, high-energy form of Modern Western Square Dancing, complete with many of its own unique flourishes.

Gay square dancing is based on Modern Western Square Dancing - the kind danced almost everywhere today. Anyone who has learned to do Modern Western Square Dancing can do gay square dancing. However, there are some differences:

	No special attire is required. Just dress comfortably.
	You don't need to bring a partner. Singles are welcome.
	Our dancing is fast-paced. Membership in most gay square dance clubs (including ours) tends to be younger than most straight clubs. Although lessons are held at a slower pace, to allow people to learn, tips (dances) for experienced dancers move quickly.
	Gay square dancing has its own unique set of flourishes to traditional calls, which liven the dancing up and mark it as uniquely ours. These flourishes are recognized by IAGSDC clubs around the world. We will be happy to teach you these flourishes.
	You can dance either the lead (traditional male) or follow (traditional female) role, regardless of your sex. Some of our women dance the lead role and some of our men dance the follow role, and everyone is happy (except for our sometimes confused caller, who has to keep us all "straight"). Some of our much more experienced dancers can dance either role.
	Everyone is welcome, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, or any other minority status!
