Puddletown Squares is a not-for-profit corporation established to support the growth of Modern Western Square Dancing (MWSD) in Seattle, Washington. We offer classes, workshops and public dances open to all, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, and each year we host an annual weekend fly-in. We have a large contingent of dancers each year at the annual convention of the International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs (IAGSDC). Our membership is comprised of dancers who participate in all programs of MWSD, as defined by Callerlab, USA.
Membership fee is $50 per year, renewed annually in September, and includes a 10% discount on admission to monthly dances.
These fees cover the following expenses: badges for new students, newsletters, recruitment, publicity, liability insurance, and the purchase and maintenance of equipement and dance recordings. We also provide a partial subsidy to an annual Mainstream program class, and classes for other Callerlab programs as the need arises, as well as scholarships to caller school (offerred annually at the IAGSDC convention) for those who are interested in learning to call square dancing for the LGBT community.
You must be a paid member in order to vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September.
