What is our dancing like?
To quote from the organizer of the Atlanta square dance club Hotlanta Squares:
This is not exactly the square dancin' you might remember from Jr. High School. This is a club for gay and lesbian folk and their friends. Supporting "all position dancing" at all levels, men and women dance interchangeable positions as guys partner with guys, gals with gals, or gals and guys switching the beaus and belles positions.
The clubs support high energy dance and is dedicated to dance lessons in a supportive environment. There's no dress code, no pressure, no experience necessary. Just a whoopin' and a hollerin' good time!
We are a member of the International
Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs.
In October 2000, we held our first fly-in, Carolina Moondance. We followed
up in 2001 with Carolina
Moondance 2, featuring callers Andy
Shore and J. Bibb. Our most recent fly-in was Mardi
Gras Madness , from February 28 to March 2, 2003, with callers Betsy
Gotta and Gary Monday.
We are listed in the Gayellow Pages.
