Greetings Square Dancers:

Please check the convention web site at www.toronto2002.com for valuable information concerning Cloverleafs and Maple Leafs.

For transportation information from the airport to the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, select the Transportation menu item on our convention web site. Then select By Air and all your options are given. We didn't suggest taking the TTC from the airport to the hotel because it's more complicated but you can
do it for $2.25 Cdn.

Looking forward to greeting everyone.

Good News Fellow Square Dancers:

It's great to know that our convention, Cloverleafs and Maple Leafs is being held at an environmentally friendly location!!

In an interview on CBC radio this morning, two directors of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel discussed the garbage situation.

In 1990 the Royal York Hotel started to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle all of their garbage and they have reduced the amount of garbage that goes into landfill sites by 75%. All paper, plastic and metal is recycled - they have staff going through ALL garbage - including that from guest rooms. Food scraps from the dining rooms are collected and sent to a company that sterilizes and mulches them to use as compost. Leftover food from the kitchens is sent to Second Harvest, an organization that helps feed the poor and homeless.

The little garbage that is left is collected by a private company, NOT the City of Toronto, so there won't be garbage piling up around the hotel during the convention.

And the really good news this week which may have gone unreported in the American media was the court ruling that we'll be dancing naked at The Barn on Saturday, June 29 during the Pride Week festivities. Let the world know!

Let's party and HAPPY PRIDE!

Accommodations for 'Cloverleafs and Maple Leafs' - Don't Delay

Greetings from Toronto!

'Cloverleafs and Maple Leafs' would like to remind everyone that the room block at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel is now completely sold out.

If you still require a hotel room, please contact us as soon as possible so we can either reallocate a hotel room at the Fairmont Royal York to you, or direct you to one of our overflow hotels. The room block at our overflow hotels will be closed at the end of May, and it will be difficult to find a hotel room in the downtown area after this point.

If you need a hotel room, please send us an email at clml_info@mail.com and we will do our best to assist you.

The weekend of the convention will be a very busy and exciting time in Toronto, and we look forward to welcoming everyone in July.

URGENT - Toronto Convention Special Hotel Rates End April 10, 2002!

To All 'Cloverleafs & Maple Leafs' Convention Attendees:

Due to great demand, the room block for 'Cloverleafs & Maple Leafs' has been oversold by 59%. While we were originally advised by the hotel that they would continue to sell rooms at our reduced rate, there has been a change.

Unfortunately, one of the big Toronto summer events is the Molson Indy car race, and this has been re-scheduled to the first weekend in July to accommodate the Pope, who is arriving later in the month. This is the weekend of our convention, and every hotel in the city will likely be sold out well before that weekend. In response, the Fairmont Royal York Hotel temporarily closed our block earlier this week.

Fortunately, we have been able to arrange for additional rooms. However, these will likely sell out very quickly, and the hotel will close this temporary allocation on April 10th.

Once the Fairmont Royal York has sold out, we will have some overflow accommodation at surrounding hotels, but if you'd like to stay at the convention hotel, we urge you to reserve very quickly. The hotel's reservation number is 1-800-866-5577. Please quote 'Cloverleafs & Maple Leafs' for the reduced convention rate.

If, at any point, you are unable to book a room at the Fairmont Royal York, please let us know, and we will do our best to assist you in arranging accommodation either at the Fairmont Royal York, or one of the hotels in close proximity. Our email address is clml_info@mail.com.

If you know of anyone else who is going to be attending the convention, who might not have made a hotel reservation yet, please pass this urgent message on to them.

The weekend of July 4-7 promises to be a very exciting weekend in Toronto, and we hope you'll be able to join us!!

See you in Toronto.

Greetings from 'Cloverleafs and Maple Leafs'!

It has come to our attention that the United Airlines reservation information published on the web site and in the Winter Issue of the convention newsletter is incorrect.

Apparently, the numbers were changed last September and we weren't informed. The correct information is:

The United Airlines convention group number is #596KN. Call United Airlines at 1-800-521-4041 or your travel agent.

If you encounter any problems, please contact us at clml_info@mail.com.

Please inform your fellow club members of this correction as not everybody has internet access. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to welcoming you to 'Cloverleafs and Maple Leafs' in Toronto, July 4-7, 2002.
