** What is a contra dance? Contra dance is a form of dance that thrusts a different person into your arms every 30 seconds or so. • Actually, this is only true sometimes. It might be more prudent, but less whimsical, to say that contra dance is one of the few dance forms where by the end of the evening you are likely to have danced with everyone. • What is a contra dance? •  Is it a line dance? A square dance? • The only real answer comes when you try it yourself!

* What is gender-role-free? Also known as gender-neutral, it means you can dance whichever role you want with whoever you want. Anyone can lead or follow, and we won’t use terms like men, women, gents, ladies, boys, or girls while calling. This form of contra dancing is popular with GLBT communities in Boston, New York, San Francisco, and Atlanta, and we want to bring it to Albuquerque.

Come out and see for yourself how much fun it is!
